Grants for Accelerated Degree Students

Grants are a type of need-based financial aid that may come from federal, state, or institutional sources. Grants are a type of gift aid that does not have to be repaid. Eligibility is determined each year based on the results of the FAFSA and the funds available.

Federal Grants

The federal government provides grant funding to undergraduate students through the following programs. For additional information on each program you may contact the Silver Lake College Office of Financial Aid or go to http://studentaid.ed.gov.

Pell Grant
$400 - $4,310
The federal government determines eligibility each year and the specific award amount may vary depending upon a student's enrollment status. Awards are available to students enrolled less than full time.
Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
$100 - $4,000
This grant is awarded to Pell-eligible students from an annual federal allocation. Awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis depending upon demonstrated financial need.
National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART)
$4000
This grant is awarded to full-time undergraduates in their third and fourth years who are Pell eligible and enrolled in designated majors. In addition, students must be U.S. citizens and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs Grant (BIA)
Award amounts vary by tribe
Native American students should contact their tribe for application materials.
Federal Veterans Affairs Benefits

State Grants

The state of Wisconsin has numerous grant programs available to Wisconsin residents attending college in the state. For additional information and programs please go to http://heab.state.wi.us/.

WI Tuition Grant (WTG)
$1,000 - $2,900
The WI Higher Educational Aids Board (HEAB) determines eligibility annually. Amounts vary depending upon tuition cost and enrollment status. Awards are available to students enrolled less than full-time.
WI Minority Retention Grant (MRG)
$250 - $2,500
Awards are made from an annual allocation to continuing minority students based on demonstrated financial need.
WI State Indian Grant (ISAG)
$250 - $1,100
This grant is available to Native American students with demonstrated financial need. Students must contact their tribe and the Office of Financial Aid for application materials. Awards are available to students enrolled less than full-time.
WI Department of Vocational Rehabilitation Grant (DVR)

Students should contact their WI DVR District Office to determine general eligibility for funding.
WI Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA)
