Peter and Connie Dorner, Class of 1985
The impact of Silver Lake College of the Holy Family on my life is beyond measure. My wife Connie and I received a wonderful education that prepared us to become music teachers. We made lifetime friends and developed professional colleagues. We also happened to meet on campus and got married in the College Chapel! What more can I say?
After we both graduated with double majors in Kodaly/Choral K–12 during the mid-1980s, I taught music for 13 years at St. Peter and Paul in Kiel and Roncalli High School in Manitowoc. Currently, I’m a Broker Associate with Coldwell Banker. The liberal arts education gave me a firm foundation to be successful in business and become an active participant in the community. I love to sing and am a member of the Symphony chorus and Lakeshore Wind Ensemble.
Connie teaches general music at Jefferson Elementary in Manitowoc and also gives private piano lessons. After 28 years, she is still sharing her love of music with her students and friends. She plays piano in church and is a member of a local band.
The Silver Lake College experience provided a solid basis for our life as we know it today. The College is a tremendous asset for the community and beyond. We’re lucky to have it in northeast Wisconsin and we are asking for your support. Will you join us in making a gift to the Silver Lake Fund? Gifts to the Silver Lake Fund help strengthen the College and enable more scholarships and programs that directly benefit students.
Have you seen or visited the campus lately? Change is happening, and it’s all good. A state-of-the-art facility for Music Education and Performance opened its doors this semester. New majors are being added. The residential student population is the largest in the College’s history.
I’m challenging all Silver Lake Alumni to join me in making a gift to the Silver Lake Fund. Our gifts are especially important because they reflect how we feel about the education we received and our hope for an even brighter future. I attribute many of the good things in my life to Silver Lake College and want to see others achieve their dreams as well.
