Educating Professional Creative Leaders
The Department of Art provides an opportunity for you to develop the creative dimension of your life in preparation for careers, leadership and service.
Department Goals
The goals of the Department of Art are to prepare students:
- to develop competencies in the visual arts by implementing design elements and principles using a variety of media.
- to participate in dialogue and research regarding diverse cultures and ethnicities, art history, art criticism, and aesthetics in order to creatively interpret and express ideas reflective of the global society.
- to demonstrate professional preparation by developing foundational knowledge, skills, and dispositions for application in the fine arts, teacher education, or computer graphics.
- to use critical thinking in synthesizing the knowledge and skills gained through a liberal arts education fostering a commitment to Christian values, service, and leadership.
