Educator Assignments

The Assignments feature of Educator is a type of evaluation learning object. Assignments are graded/evaluated by the instructor.  By posting an Assignment, you provide learners with instructions, timelines and expectation for an Assignment or special project.  Each Assignment has its own Gradebook entry and scores can be manually entered online or uploaded from a delimited text report created offline.

Creating Assignments

  1. Click the Assignment navigation area.  Then click on the sublink, New Assignment.

  1. Complete the Title and Due Date of the assignment.  Type a point value for the assignment.  The Grade Builder field determines the "weight" of this assignment in relation to the rest of the course. This field may or may not be the same as the Point Value field. For example, if an assignment is worth 50 points and the Grade Builder value is 10 points, then a student who earned 25 points for the assignment would get 5 points for the Grade Builder value.  If the Point Value and Grade Builder is the same, then the students receives the points awarded by the assignment in the Grade Builder.
  2. The Submissions Allowed field determines how many times a student may revise an assignment before they are not allowed to submit it again.
  3. Rubric Categories allow you to assign point values to each portion of the assignment.  If you wish to use Rubric Categories, select the number of categories.
  4. Comments may be placed in the Assignment Details area.
  5. When an assignment is Active, it is visible to the student.  When the assignment is Inactive, students cannot see the assignment.
  6. Click the Submit button.

If you have entered Rubric Categories, fill in the appropriate description and values for each category. See the sample below.
