NOTE TO AOL USERS: Please make sure you are using Internet Explorer and not the AOL browser. It is certainly fine to connect through AOL, but once connected, please minimize that browser and use Internet Explorer instead. The instructions below are for Internet Explorer.

Check Time, Date, and Region

  1. Double-click the time in the lower right corner of your computer.

  2. Check to make sure the am and pm are correctly set, as well as the time.

  3. Check the date and make sure the day, date, and year are correct.

  4. Check the time zone to verify it is the correct time zone for the state in which you reside.

  5. Click apply and then ok after changing or verifying the information.

Anti-Virus and Pop-Ups

  1. Disable any pop-up stopper software you may have. Yahoo, Google, IE, and other programs can add additional popup stopping software to your browser.

  2. If you do NOT have anti-virus software, or feel you have not been able to update it properly, please go to the following site for a free Internet scan: http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp?cid=9914

  3. Download, install and run Ad-Aware (free version) http://lavasoft.element5.com/software/adaware/ . This program prevents popup ads which can cause problems in the Explorer browser. Make sure you keep the definitions updated. (There is a link on the main screen of the program which will check and update for you.)
