World Languages Program
The courses in Spanish include an integration of Communication, Connections, Comparisons, Cultures and Communities. Thus the student learns to:
- communicate in Spanish orally and in writing,
- comprehend differences and similarities in second language learning.
- understand the nuances of cultural values and practices, and
- apply this knowledge to community relationships.
In order to accomplish the objectives of the program, the student follows a progression of courses to:
- acquire competence in learning to speak, comprehend, read and write Spanish,
- cultivate meaningful exploration of the history and aesthetic achievements of Spanish-speaking countries and peoples,
- appreciate and enjoy Spanish literature, and
- further multicultural and holistic connections.
