What is your favorite college memory?

In March of 2014, I traveled with the Silver Lake Chorale on our annual spring break performance tour. We took a week to visit Washington, D.C., and were able to spend time touring the parks, monuments and buildings of our nation’s capital. The chorale performed in the National Cathedral, singing Rene Clausen’s “Prayer” from the text of the daily prayers of Mother Theresa. Their gift of music, shared on that tour and in that space, was among the most beautiful experiences of my entire life.  I will be forever grateful to the college and to those students for making that moment possible.

What advice would you give to your incoming students?

Be open to new experiences and enjoy all the adventures that college brings to you. Remember that you are unique, and that you have as much to share with us as we have to share with you. You are the only you there has ever been; your gifts and talents enrich the life of the college and make Silver Lake College better because of your place here among us.

What is the best study tip you can share?

Make a plan for dedicated study hall time every weekday, adding up to 6-10 hours each week. Commit to your plan. Turn off your mobile phone and other devices during that study time so you can focus on success and on becoming the student you know you have the ability to be.

What are you passionate about?

Greek mythology, Latin motets and English poetry (and, American cuisine!!!).

Personal quote?

"For She is fairer than the sun and surpasses every constellation of the stars. Compared to light, She is found more radiant; though night supplants light, wickedness does not prevail over Wisdom." -- Wisdom 7:29-30
