PROGRAM FOCUS

The program is designed for experienced classroom teachers who wish to develop knowledge and skills that will allow them to take a more active professional leadership role. The underlying premise is that classroom teachers must be on the front line of creating the vision for the future that will lead to significant and lasting school reform.
PROGRAM GOALS: To help students gain

a better understanding of the nature of teaching as a profession and of their role within that profession

awareness of the political, social and economic context of education, including
the demands placed on the school by society and 
the resources and constraints affecting school operation

a better understanding of the dynamics of the school environment

knowledge of the process of institutional change and the role of effective leadership in the process

the specific leadership skills needed to bring about change in the school environment
