Dr. Lorna Zemke...An Outstanding Educator
"If LOVENOTES assists parents in making their unborn child feel wanted, secure, and loved, it will have achieved its goal." - Dr. Lorna Zemke
Sr. Lorna Zemke, D.M.A., Professor of Music, is an experienced music educator, Kodaly music specialist,
and Director of the Early Childhood Music Program at SLC.
She received her doctorate in 1973 from the University of Southern California.
Inspired by the work of Thomas R. Verny, author of "The Secret Life of the Unborn Child," Zoltan Kodaly, Leon Thurman, Anna Peter-Langness, and others, Sr. Lorna recognized that the bond between parent and child that begins before birth could be deepened by using music as the language of communication.
In 1986 she designed and first instructed the five-week course entitled "Music for the Unborn Child" which has since attracted international acclaim.
In 2002 it was translated into Korean. The LOVENOTES instructional package
outlines the 5-week course in detail and is available
for purchase.
