Lovenotes™ : Music for the Unborn ChildClasses
The Silver Lake College LOVENOTES™: Music for the
Unborn Child Program is a five-week session of classes
held each semester, fall and spring, for expectant
parents in their 5th to 9th month
of pregnancy.
A Bond that Lasts a Lifetime
Even before a baby is born, somewhere in the fourth
or fifth month of pregnancy, the child can hear sounds
from the outside world.
By using the voice as the natural instrument, along
with folksongs, musical instruments, rhythm and
movement, the LOVENOTES™ program:
- Offers parents a special, intimate way to relax and
experience together the wonder of the life they have
created.
- Establishes loving communication and a strong bond
between the baby and family before the child is born.
- Promotes the emotional well being of parents and
child by calming the infant before and after birth.
- Aids childbirth by teaching parents how to use music
to relax during labor and delivery.
- Enhances the whole family’s appreciation of music.
Class time and make-up
The five 40-minute classes are held on a weekday
evening so husbands and wives can share the time
reflectivly together. On occasion siblings attend as
well. If the father cannot attend, a friend,
grandparent, or some other family member may join the
mother for these classes. Generally three or four
LOVENOTES™ sessions
are held at Silver Lake College
within each year.
Outcome
The nine months between conception and birth are
vitally important to the emotional, social and physical
development of a child. The most important contribution
parents can make to the total well being of their child
is to clearly communicate before and after birth that he
or she is wanted, cared about and loved. This is what
the LOVENOTES™ program is designed to achieve. The
five-week course is a small investment of the time
needed to teach pregnant parents how to use the language
of music to communicate love and reassurance to their
unborn child.
