Pre-College Math Lab:

Survey course to review basic mathematical concepts: operations with rational numbers and integers; algebraic equations to solve word problems; area and perimeter of plane geometric figures; ratios, percents, and proportions; base ten and other numeration systems.

Number relationships and operations; algebraic relationships and functions; estimation and problem-solving strategies.   Prereq: Passing score in MTH 001 or ACT Math 17

Mathematical Explorations II:

Geometry, measurement, data analysis, statistics, probability; and problem solving strategies.  Prereq: Min of C in MTH 110 or ACT Math 18 and 1 year high school Algebra

MTH 120 MTH 120 Intermediate Algebra:

Real numbers; algebraic expressions; functions; linear equations and in equalities; exponents and radicals; quadratic equations.   Prereq: Min of C in MTH 110 or ACT math 20 or 1 year of high school algebra

MTH 130 Precalculus:

Polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions; graphing and applications. Prereq: MTH 120 2 years high school Algebra and 1 year high school Geometry

MTH 201 Calculus:

Functions; models; limits and continuity; rates of change; derivatives and applications. Prereq: MTH 130 or 3 years of college preparatory mathematics including Trigonometry

MTH 202 Calculus II:

Integrals; applications of integrations; transcendental functions; integration techniques.  Prereq: MTH 201

MTH 203 Calculus III:

Differential equations; parametric equations; polar coordinates; infinite sequences and series. Prereq: MTH 202

MTH 206 Applied Finite Mathematics:

Straight lines; linear functions and equations; matrices; linear programming; mathematics of finance; sets and counting.   Prereq: MTH 120 or 2 years of college preparatory mathematics

MTH 271 Probability and Statistics:

Elementary probability theory; frequency, normal and binomial distributions; sample and population mean, variance, and standard and statistical inference. Prereq: MTH 100 or 2 years of college preparatory mathematics

Transition to abstract mathematics; topics include sets; logic; methods of proof; axiomatic systems. Prereq: MTH 202 or concurrent

Inductive and deductive reasoning; Euclid's postulates; isometrics; translations; hyperbolic space; projective geometry and duality. Prereq: MTH 300 or 2 years of college preparatory mathematics

Integers; divisibility; prime numbers; congruencies; Diophantine equations. Prereq: MTH 300 or 2 years of college preparatory mathematics

Logic and proofs, sets, sequences, strings, relations; algorithms; combinatorics; recurrence relations; graph theory. Prereq: MTH 130 or MTH 206

MTH 370 Linear Algebra:

Linear, vector spaces, and inner product spaces; linear transformations and matrices; linear equations and determinants; eigenvectors and eigen values. Prereq: MTH 201

Historical developments of mathematics to the 18th century; selected topics from 18th, 19th, and 20th Century mathematics developments. Prereq: MTH 201 or concurrently

MTH 443 MTH 443 Curriculum and Methods Mathematics (EA-A):

Curriculum and course development; remediation and enrichment; lesson planning; problem modeling and solving strategies; use of calculations and computers in the classroom; emphasis on NCTM Standards.    Prereq: EDU 262 or equivalent

MTH 453 Student Teaching Mathematics (EA):

Teaching experience in mathematics in an approved middle level school under the direction of a master teacher.

Teaching experience in mathematics in an approved secondary school under the direction of a master teacher.

MTH 459 Career Intern Experience in Mathematics:

Work experience in a mathematics or related field under the direction of a faculty member and a field supervisor.  Prereq: Junior Standing
