SLC Home Bachelor of Science in Nursing Completion Program

Program Mission

Believing that education is an ongoing process, the BSN completion program expands upon the basic foundation of nursing education by integrating knowledge from the liberal arts, sciences, and nursing to foster personal and professional growth in an environment that is based on the principles and truths of Franciscan Catholic tradition.

Program Goals

  1. Provide students with a broad base of liberal studies in the Franciscan tradition in order to enhance understanding of self, others, and the community and world in which we live.
  2. Provide students with studies and experiences that ensure an appropriate level of competence in effective communication.
  3. Provide students with a working knowledge of concepts essential to contemporary professional nursing practice to prepare for roles of leadership and service.
  4. Provide a flexible educational program that facilitates attainment of personal and professional career goals, and meets the health care needs of the community.
  5. Provide an undergraduate education that fosters continued professional growth and accountability and forms the foundation for graduate education.

Outcomes

Upon completion of the Silver Lake RN to BSN program, the baccalaureate graduate will:

  1. Communicate with creativity and effectiveness using modes, strategies, theories and technology within the professional roles of nursing.
  2. Utilize a holistic approach to advocate for and improve access to health care for vulnerable populations locally, nationally and globally.
  3. Collaborate with other professionals to provide preventative health education and research-based interventions to promote, maintain and restore health to clients of all age groups and diverse cultures.
  4. Effectively apply frameworks, theories, concepts, models and research to maximize positive health outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
  5. Incorporate leadership skills to effect change to enhance the health of individuals, families, and community and improve the health care delivery system.
  6. Recognize personal accountability of shaping health care delivery by participating in political and regulatory processes as a member of the nursing profession.
  7. Synthesize theoretical and empirical knowledge from the liberal arts and sciences with nursing science to enhance professional practice.
  8. Assume responsibility for lifelong learning and articulate a plan for professional career development.
