Department of Religious Studies & Philosophy

β€œIt is only by a liberal arts program, thoroughly grounded in the principles of Catholic theology and philosophy that our students will come into the educational and cultural heritage that is theirs.” β€” Mother Generose Cahill, OSF, 1935
Foundress of Silver Lake College of the Holy Family

Our Vision

The Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy strives to inform, form, and transform the student to live the ideals of Christian life and service, through a conscious response to the Christian community's baptismal call.

Our Mission

The Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy is rooted in the Judaeo-Christian tradition. The academic disciplines of Theology and Philosophy are committed to the tenets and living tradition of the Catholic Church and the Franciscan heritage. These provide the background, foundation, and possibilities for the intellectual journey and pastoral opportunities of contemporary faith life.
