Health and Safety

Keeping the Campus Safe

The health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors to the campus is very important to us. Keep you and those around you physically safe with the following resources:

Sickness and Influenza

The United States Government has provided some helpful resources on Influenza and its prevention:

  • The influenza virus weighs heavily on everyone’s mind this time of year.  When winter winds blow we all know it is important to keep proper hygiene by washing our hands, but what else can we do to prevent the flu?  Find out how to protect yourself against the flu this season.
  • If you catch an illness despite your best efforts to steer clear, the Student Life office has provided a guide on what to do if you have the flu.  Even if you suffer only from a common cold, the Student Health and Counseling Center is available to help you recover.
  • Inform Matt Thielen, Dean of Students (686-6199), if you have flu symptoms or are diagnosed with H1N1.

Crime and Emergencies

Though the campus enjoys a relatively crime free environment, it is still important to know what to do in case of emergency.  The Undergraduate and Graduate Student Handbooks provide emergency contacts and procedures as well as locations of first aid materials, what to do in case of sexual assault, who to contact if there is an accident, how to treat communicable diseases and more.
