Minor in Social Science

The Social Science Minor presents a curriculum that provides students with a broad understanding of human society, including environmental and cultural factors shaping and conditioning human life. The Program develops an awareness of the complexities of contemporary society, and provides perspectives on groups of varying race, ethnic background, gender, and religion through an interdisciplinary approach.

Students majoring in history and pursuing a social science minor select the courses listed below in lieu of the history courses included in the program outlined above:
GEO --- ESC 105 Earth Science 3
PSY --- Social Psychology 3
SOC --- Elective Social Science course 3
To meet Wisconsin's Model Academic Standards effectively, students pursuing a minor in social science for teacher certification should select the courses in parenthesis in the program outlined above.  Transfer students should carefully study Wisconsin's Model Academic Standards to assure that their transfer credits adequately address the Standards.
