Licensure Course Requirements
Course Requirements:
Course numbers 500+ are graduate courses; course numbers below 500 are undergraduate courses. Some prerequisite courses for licensure are available for undergraduate credit only. The courses needed for licensure depend on the licensure option and the specific level for licensure. Only graduate level courses can be used to meet the 18-credit elective requirement for Master of Arts in Special Education. Undergraduate credit courses can be used to meet licensure requirements.
Prior Learning
Licensure students may portfolio prior educational experiential learning for some competencies. Students seeking teaching licensure may demonstrate course competencies through: examples of specific examination, video presentations, and/or classroom demonstration. With prior approval, a student prepared portfolio, following specified guidelines may be used to validate competencies. Students who wish credit must enroll in a related course.
