Special Education Program Goals, and Performance Outcome Competencies
The goals of the Special Education Department are:
- to form a community of learners, and,
- to facilitate the professional growth of students as servant leaders and
change-agents
The Performance Outcome Competencies which expand and enrich the role of teachers are the ability to know, comprehend, apply, analyze, synthesize and evaluate:
- basic skills/knowledge
- research
- communication
- home, school, and community relationships critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making
- professionalism
- leadership responsibilities
- evaluation, programming, instruction, and management based on educational models and best practice so that they are prepared to assume leadership and to give service to others.
