Music Educators National Conference: Collegiate Chapter #435 (MENC)

MENC, affiliated with the Music Educators National Conference, provides an organization for student exchange, leadership, and initiative, and fosters professional educational opportunities and support musical activities.  Members are involved with annual dues for state and national membership.  The chapter involves music students in musical events on and off campus, publicizes and shares rides to concerts/field trips in other cities, arranges activities for "Music in our Schools Month," sponsors music seminars and organizes social events among SLC music students.   Participants are invited to the state conference in Madison annually.  This club is open to anyone, but particularly for those who are planning to teach music.  For more information contact the Music Department at 920-686-6173.

Students of Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (SWECA)

SWECA is affiliated with numerous organizations both locally and internationally including the Manitowoc County Early Childhood Association (MCEC), Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA), National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Association of Early Childhood International (ACEI).  SWECA aims to foster an awareness of Early Childhood issues and concerns and to engage in proactive service and advocacy for young children.  Open to full or part-time students of early childhood education. Annual dues of $10.00. Manitowoc residents are eligible for scholarship from MCEC. For more information contact Betty Wyatt at 920-686-6380.

Society of Human Resource Management Association: Student Chapter (SHRM)

SHRM gives Human Resource Management majors access to a professional network of local and international professionals in their feild and helps them develop knowledge and leadership skills in HR Management.  Participants must be Human Resource Management majors, and taking at least 6 credits per semester.  Members are involved in study groups for professional certification, fund raising activities, HR games, Student State Conference, and attending meetings with regional chapters.  For more information call the Business Management and Technology Department at (920) 686-198.

Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC)

SCEC aims to stimulate professional expertise and foster understanding of persons with exceptional education needs through discussion and learning experiences.  Affiliated with the Council for Exceptional Children (International).  Open to anyone interested in exceptional people, One $75.00 Scholarship available.  Members participate in monthly meetings, raise money for the benefit of exceptional persons, take field trips to area and regional schools, and coordinate the yearly SLC Halloween Dance.  For more information contact Dr. Susan Weisflock at 920-686-6232.

Student Wisconsin Education Association (SWEA)

SWEA develops awareness of and involvement in issues and events of concern to future teachers, a pre-professional organization.  Affiliated with the Manitowoc County Early Childhood Association (MCEC), the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and the Association of Early Childhood International (ACEI).  Open to full or part-time students of early childhood education. Annual dues of $10.00. Manitowoc residents are eligible for scholarship from MCEC. Activities include monthly meetings, annual fund-raising, donations to area child care centers, and the fall event "Make a Difference Day".  For more information contact Jacqui Satori at 920-686-6392.

Wisconsin Art Education Association/ National Art Education Association Student Chapter (WAEA/NAEA)

WAEA/NAEA gives SLC students an opportunity to attend Wisconsin Art Education Association Fall and Spring Conferences, allowing them to meet professionals in their field and to listen to discussions on key art education issues.  Open to anyone, specifically of interest to those planning to teach art.  This club also supports Youth Art Month in March by planning activities and attending exhibitions.  For more information call Dionne Landgraf at 920-686-6316.
