The Silver Lake Handbell Ensemble was formed in 2009 under the direction of Sandra Eithun. The group currently rehearses on Friday mornings from 10:00-11:50 am and is open to all Silver Lake College students and community members. The ensemble performs as part of the Christmas at Silver Lake Concert each December and again at the spring instrumental concert in April. Our repertoire is varied and taken from the classics, pop and sacred genres. Some musical experience is preferred, but not necessary.
Sandra Eithun received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Silver Lake College. She has been the Director of Music Ministry at First Congregational United Church of Christ in New London, Wisconsin since 1992 where she serves as organist, keyboard accompanist and director of four handbell choirs. She is very active in the Handbell Musicians of America organization and currently has over 250 published pieces of handbell music, several handbell collections and sacred keyboard books. She is a national handbell clinician and conductor and has had many pieces commissioned for large events, festivals and commemorations for established groups.
