13 March 2013 was not a “business as usual” day in the life of the Catholic Church. The election of a Successor to St. Peter as Bishop of the Church of Rome that, by the will of Jesus Christ, presides over the Church of Rome and the entire Church in charity, is always a moment of profound grace, a moment in which the Holy Spirit is powerfully present. It is normal, then, that everything all over the Catholic world come to a screeching halt to receive the grace offered to each of us in the gift of a new Holy Father.

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is pleased to announce the publication of Dr. Emilie Lindemann’s most recent chapbook, The Queen of the Milky Way, by Dancing Girl Press, in spring 2013. Lindemann, who is an Assistant Professor of English for the College, created the book of poems by using erasure to alter a children's storybook version of Steven Spielberg's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Lindemann's poems imagine a female "celebutante" version of E.T. who wears a purple tiara and sports a long, glossy mane of curls. The book will be available through dancinggirlpress.com. Lindemann’s first poetry chapbook, Dear Minimum Wage Employee: You Are Priceless, was published in 2011, also by Dancing Girl Press.
