Lakers Win vs. Northland College
Last night the men’s basketball team defeated a strong Northland College team from Ashland, Wisconsin by the score of 94–78. The Lumberjacks fought toe to toe in the first half, but a long three point shot at the buzzer by John Duke proved to be a back-breaker and the Lakers took a 46 -40 lead into the locker room. The Lakers came out with high intensity in the second half and took the lead by as many as 22 points.
The Lakers shot 52.3% for the game on 34 of 65 and shot 60% from behind the arch on 9 of 15. John Duke led all scorers with 32 points to go with his game high 7 rebounds. The Lakers had eleven players hit the scoring column. In addition to John Duke, Darius Barnes added 19 points including a monster dunk and 7 rebounds, Kyle Lundberg added 10 points to go with a game high 6 assists, Austin Walker added 7 points, Chris Jones and Anthony Parker each scored 6 points, Carl Jean scored 5 points, Derek Domino and Dru Harris each contributed 3 points, Tyler Wells added 2 points and Wesley Dowell capped off the scoring with 1 point. Carl Jean and Austin Walker came off of the bench and played tenacious defense and hit the glass for a total of 7 rebounds.
The Laker’s next game is in Chicago on December 3rd when they take on a strong Concordia College of Chicago team. The next home game is Friday December 6th against perennial power Clarke University, currently 6-1 on the season.
