For many students, pursuing the dream of a college education is simply out of reach. Many lack the financial resources for tuition, books, housing and other expenses. This is the reality right now for students at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family. At the end of this fall semester on December 15, more than 50 students will be in jeopardy of not being able to return for the spring semester due to financial challenges.
Today, we are kicking off the “Gift of Dreams” campaign. This is a three-week campaign to raise $250,000 to allow 50 students to continue their education at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family. We are asking you to join us in this important endeavor!
The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity have always ensured a large part of our mission to be dedicated to empowering and educating students to earn their degree in an environment grounded in the Franciscan Values of Community, Compassion, Peacemaking and Care for Creation. Many of our students are the first in their family to have the opportunity to even attend college. Currently, 62 percent of our full-time undergraduates are from low-income families. Too many brilliant minds are held back by the crushing reality of finances, but you can make a difference!
During this Christmas season, take a moment to reflect on the blessings you have been given, then consider the difference you can make for these 50 students. Your generosity will allow these students the opportunity to continue their dreams of earning a degree and also encourage them to become servant leaders within our communities and beyond.
Thank you for considering to join my wife, Carolyn, and I in giving a gift by December 31 to transform these 50 students’ lives and to keep their dreams alive!
Peace and All Good,
Robert B. Callahan, Ph.D.

“You are the reason people like me are able to pursue their dreams and passions. Your dollars are not just numbers, they are the lifeblood of a young adult's academic and professional development. Without scholarships, I would not be able to thrive academically, professionally, and socially as I am now. Upon graduation, I know I will have received an exceptional education from Silver Lake College of the Holy Family, which gave me the tools and opportunities to be successful in my field.” - Silver Lake College of the Holy Family student
