Music Scholarships


Silver Lake College awards over $30,000/year to music students (majors, minors, and non-majors).

Music Scholarships

  • Graduate Music Assistantships of $4000-5000 are available.
  • Music Incentive Awards, $100-400, for undergraduate or graduate students who show potential but are not at the scholarship level.
  • Music Education Scholarship, $500-3000, for new or continuing full-time music education majors.
  • Music Performance Scholarship, up to $2000 per year for full- or part-time students who will perform in ensembles (choral and/or instrumental). Based on musical performance/ability per recommendation of music faculty.

Endowed Music Scholarships

The Katinka Daniel Graduate Music Endowment

Established in October 1998 by the Silver Lake College Kodály Music Program to honor their teacher, mentor and friend. It is for graduate Kodály music majors; applicable to tuition; minimum GPA of 3.0 is required; based on academic excellence and financial need.

The Harry and Jeanette Ginzl Endowed Music Scholarship

Established in July 1990 through a bequest from Jeanette Charlotte Ginzl for full-time music students (preference given to piano students); applicable to tuition and music lessons; minimum GPA of 3.0 is required; renewable; based on financial need and musical talent. Awards for piano and instrumental music lessons are also available for pre-college students.

The Vivian Jagemann Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established in December 1996 by Nicholas B. Jagemann, John M. Jagemann and Aitken-Reed Inc., for a full-time undergraduate (junior or senior) or graduate music major; application to tuition; minimum GPA of 3.0 for undergraduates and minimum GPA of 3.5 for graduate students is required; renewable; based on academic excellence and financial need.

The Lenore L. Landby Graduate Music Endowed Scholarship

Established in December 1999 through a charitable bequest. Applicable to tuition for full- or part-time graduate Kodály Music majors; minimum GPA of 3.0 is required; non-renewable; based on academic excellence and financial need.

The Kathleen M. Ley Endowed Music Scholarship

Established in January 2005 through charitable trust for full-time music students; minimum GPA of 2.5 is required; applicable to tuition; renewable; based on academic excellence and financial need; must be nominated by the music faculty.

The Music Department Endowed Scholarship

Established in May 1996 for full-time freshman or transfer music majors; applicable to tuition; minimum GPA of 3.0 is required; renewable; based on musical talent; audition required.

The Donald J. Zemke Music Endowed Scholarship

Established in April 1987 by relatives and friends for a full- or part-time student; new or continuing music major; applicable to tuition; renewable; based on academic excellence and evidence of quality musicianship.
