SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM GOALS, AND PERFORMANCE OUTCOME COMPETENCIES

The goals of the Special Education Department are:

  • to form a community of learners, and,
  • to facilitate the professional growth of students as servant leaders and change-agents

The Performance Outcome Competencies which expand and enrich the role of teachers are the ability to know, comprehend, apply, analyze, synthesize and evaluate:

  • basic skills/knowledge
  • research
  • communication
  • home, school, and community relationships critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making
  • professionalism
  • leadership responsibilities
  • evaluation, programming, instruction, and management based on educational models and best practice so that they are prepared to assume leadership and to give service to others.
