Hello, my name is Tara Wachowski. I grew up in Manitowoc County and am a 2010 graduate of Silver Lake College of the Holy Family, with a B.A. in Studio Art. I’ve worked with the College for about three years; first with the Look Ahead Lakers program and now as a Transfer Admissions Counselor.
Favorite spot on campus: Favorite Spot on campus is the Art Wing. I love walking into classrooms to see students’ work in progress and taking a moment to stroll down the halls and enjoy the rotating student and guest artist exhibits. There’s always something new and exciting to see.
Favorite season: Summer is definitely my favorite season. Manitowoc and Two Rivers have beautiful Lake Michigan beaches, a State Park, and abundance of waterways to explore. When I’m not at the College, you’ll find me at the beach, playing disc golf, kayaking, or taking a bike ride through the Point Beach State Park trails.
Favorite event: My favorite Silver Lake College event is the Look Ahead Lakers campus visit day. During the event, our students connect with over 250 area 5th graders to show them what it’s like to be a college student and encourage them to reach for higher education. It’s a positive day for our students, faculty and staff, and young, college-bound visitors.
Why did you choose to work at SLC or if you are an alumnus, why did you choose to attend SLC?
I transferred to Silver Lake College because of the personal attention I received as soon as I inquired about the school. I was impressed with the small class sizes, connected with my professors, and felt accepted into a dynamic, learning community. Working for the college, I have an even greater appreciation for the close, SLC community, the dedication of our Faculty and Staff to serve our students, and the way in which our Franciscan, Liberal Arts education creates civic-minded and highly-skilled leaders.
