Silver Lake College Presents New Music Pedagogy and Performance Program

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is excited to announce its new Music Performance and Pedagogy Program, beginning in the fall of 2014. Music Performance and Pedagogy is aimed at students who are looking to pursue a music education career in a small setting, like one-on-one teaching. It will be offered in voice, string, or brass (wind). Silver Lake is one of three schools in the state that offers a pedagogy and performance program. Besides being the only school to offer the program in a 300-mile radius, SLC is the only school offering the program in voice, string, or brass at the undergraduate level and the only school to offer Early Childhood Pedagogy and Practicum.

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is delighted to present “Soup with Substance: The Language of Love” on Thursday, February 6, at 5:30 pm in the College Dining Room (first floor, main building), 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc. Guests will enjoy hearty homemade soups and breads served up by local restaurants and bakeries while they go on a hilarious journey of the “Language of Love” with humorist, performer and author, Liysa Callsen, whose parents and husband are deaf.

Silver Lake College to Host Exhibit for Guest Artist Benjamin Sloma Jan. 21 – Feb. 22

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is pleased to host a guest artist exhibit featuring paintings by Benjamin Sloma in the College’s Art Wing Gallery, on the first floor inside the east entrance to the main College building, 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc, from January 21 through February 22, 2014. The exhibit is open to the public without charge from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Friday and Saturday.

Silver Lake College to Host Food & Wine Pairing Event on January 25 in the new Franciscan Music Center

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is delighted to host its first annual Food & Wine Pairing Event on Saturday, January 25th at 6:00 pm. The event will be held in the stunning glass and stone clad Ariens Atrium of the beautiful new Franciscan Music Center on the west side of the College campus, 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc. The evening will begin with a champagne reception, followed by five courses of mouth-watering hors d’oeuvres, each paired with a delightful wine selection. Guests will learn how tastes and flavor notes of foods are accentuated by different wines, and how to make a perfect pairing. Entertainment for this elegant evening will include a live jazz quartet. Tickets are $50 per person, and each includes a complimentary bottle of wine. Makes a wonderful gift! Silver Lake College Receives Music Grant from Green Bay Packers Foundation

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is honored to be among a select group of organizations to be awarded grants by the Green Bay Packers Foundation, presented at a luncheon in the Lambeau Field Atrium on Tuesday, December 17th. Accepting the award on behalf of the College was President Chris E. Domes, accompanied by his wife, Mary Domes. The grant will be used for materials and equipment in the College’s music program, housed in the new Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, which was dedicated in early October.

Silver Lake College to Host Winter Commencement Celebration December 13 And 14

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family will honor 53 graduates at its Winter Commencement Ceremony on December 14th. The celebration will begin at 6:30 pm with the Baccalaureate Liturgy in the Silver Lake College Chapel (second floor, main building), 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc, The Most Revered Robert F. Morneau, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Green Bay, presiding. A President’s Reception for graduates, family, friends, faculty and staff will follow in the Heritage room (#238, second floor main building), hosted by Dr. Chris and Mary Domes. The Commencement Ceremony will be held in Bob & Pat Endries Hall in the new Franciscan Music Center on the west side of campus. The commencement address will be delivered by Dr. Chris Domes, President. The Response of the Graduates will be delivered by Ms. Tammy Reigel of Marshfield, who is graduating Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education-Choral and Kodály. Silver Lake College Announces New Allied Health Leadership Degree Program for Spring 2014

Father David Beaudry To Discuss “Reforming The Liturgy: A Response To The Critics” For The Father Bill Zimmer Forum

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family and St. Francis of Assisi Parish are delighted to present the 2013-2014 Father Bill Zimmer Forum, a “book group for people of faith.” Book discussions are open to the public without charge and are held in the Heritage Room (room 238, formerly the Grand Lounge) on the second floor of the main building of Silver Lake College, 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc, on the second Tuesday of each month at 12:15 pm. There is no January Forum. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch, or food is available for purchase in the College dining room beginning at 11:30 am.
