Guest Artist Exhibit: Photography of Dale Van Minsel

Posted by on 5 November 2012

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is delighted to present a Guest Artist Exhibit: The Photography of Dale Van Minsel, on display in the Silver Lake College Café Gallery from November 5-30, 2012. The exhibit is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Dale has been working with photography since 1978, and has served Silver Lake College as Digital Communications Coordinator and Campus Photographer since February 2011. In his personal time, he has recently begun exploring photography’s many faces as a medium of fine art. As an artist, Dale takes photographs of ordinary objects and landscapes and manipulates them using digital applications.  His goal is for the viewers to look closer at everyday objects and see them in a new way.  In 2012 he began exhibiting throughout Wisconsin, and was selected to show two of his photographs in group shows in Ferrara and Verona, Italy.  The majority of his current work is created with an iPhone, utilizing applications such as Hipstamatic and Photoshop to alter his original images. Although Dale enjoys working with conventional photography, he shares that, “…the emerging art form of “iPhoneography” allows me much more freedom to see just how far I can push the boundaries of an iPhone and imaging software to create unique images.” For more information, visit his website at dvanminsel.com.
