Silver Lake College Piano Professor To Give Lecture and Perform

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is pleased to host a Faculty Colloquium for Dr. Diana Sharpiro, Assistant Professor of Piano, on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2014 at 1:00 pm in Bob & Pat Endries Hall in the new Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc. Dr. Shapiro will give a 25 minute lecture, and will play for approximately 30 minutes. The topic of the colloquium is “Resurgence of Petrouchka: Second Life of the Piano Duet Score.” The presentation is open to the public without charge.

Educator Reflects on Meeting JFK 50 Years after His Assassination

Sitting down with Chris Rettler on a cool, windy November afternoon, it is not hard to see the impact that her personal meeting with President Kennedy and his assassination have had on her as she pages through a book on John F. Kennedy.  Rettler recently celebrated fifty years in education and continues to teach students at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family in her role as assistant professor of Education.  It is on this windy day, about a week before the fiftieth anniversary of President Kennedy’s assassination, that she shares her story of meeting Kennedy and how it has personally shaped her and also, her career.

Silver Lake College Hosting Anthony Brandl Exhibit “The Rabbit Hero” Through Dec. 20, And Artist Talk With Brandl on Tues. Nov. 19 At 1:00 pm

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is delighted to invite the public to attend “The Rabbit Hero,” an exhibit of Visual Poetry and creative ingenuity by artist Anthony J. Brandl, on display in the College Cafeteria Gallery now through December 20th, 2013. The exhibit is open to the public without charge from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm on Friday and Saturday. Brandl will give a public “Artist Talk” on Tuesday, November 19th at 1:00 pm in room 102, on the first floor inside the east entrance of the main College building.

Silver Lake College Presents Steinbrecher-Mayer Honors Recital For Music Students on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7:00 pm

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family Department of Fine Arts is delighted to present the Steinbrecher-Mayer Honors Recital on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 7:00pm. The recital will take place in Bob & Pat Endries Hall, a 464-seat theater located in the new Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance on the campus of Silver Lake College, 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc. There is no charge for admission.

Silver Lake College Presents Second Artist Music Series Concert Featuring The Bay Area Big Band

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is excited to present the second of seven Artist Music Series Concerts for the 2013-2014 season on Friday, November 15th at 7:30 pm in Bob & Pat Endries Hall in the new Franciscan Music Center at Silver Lake College, 2406 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc. Tickets are available through the Capitol Civic Centre box office by calling 920-683-2184, or online at www.CCCShows.org. FSCC Founders' Day Remembrance

For 144 years the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity have dedicated themselves to the love of God and service to the People of God.  On November 9, 1869, five young Catholic women in rural Wisconsin responded to the inner call to give all to their Lord, Jesus Christ and to serve the needs of this pioneer land. Today the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity continue to strive whole-heartedly to live the spirit of their foundresses.  The 21st century may present challenges which appear different from those the founding Sisters had experienced. However, the Sisters’ response is the same: “to observe the Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, living in obedience, in poverty and in chastity.”
