Poet Ching-In Chen to Present Evening Poetry Reading

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is proud to host a poetry reading by Ching-In Chen on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Generose Enrichment Center, 2406 S. Alverno Road, Manitowoc. Ching-In Chen is the author of The Heart’s Traffic (Arktoi Books/Red Hen Press), a novel in verse that shares the story of an immigrant girl named Xiaomei. The reading is open to the public at no charge and refreshments will be served.

The daughter of Chinese immigrants, Ching-In Chen holds a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing and Writing for the Preforming Arts from the University of California, Riverside. As a community organizer, she has worked within the Asian American communities in San Francisco, Oakland, Riverside, and Boston. Chen is editor-in-chief of Cream City Review and is involved with the Milwaukee Molotov Marchers, an activist street marching band. A Kundiman and Lambda Fellow, Chen is pursuing her PhD at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
