Silver Lake College Announces New Allied Health Leadership Degree Program for Spring 2014

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is excited to announce a new bachelor’s degree program in allied health studies beginning spring 2014. The Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Leadership is a degree-completion program for individuals who have earned associate degrees or completed accredited certificate or diploma programs in allied health fields. This accelerated program create a collaborative learning environment, with classes are offered online and face-to-face. The program will benefit allied health professionals such as:

  • Medical Office Assistants
  • Clinical Laboratory Professionals
  • Imaging Professionals
  • Pharmacy Professionals
  • Respiratory Therapists
  • Medical Administrative Specialists
  • Medical Transcriptionists
  • Occupational or Physical Therapist Assistants
  • Dental Professionals
  • Paramedics / Emergency Medical Professionals
  • Other Allied Health Professionals

The purpose of the Allied Health Studies Degree Completion Program is to prepare graduates to practice as leaders in their discipline. A Bachelor’s Degree in Allied Health Leadership from Silver Lake College provides students with a broad based foundation in liberal arts studies, health care delivery and trends, ethical and legal issues, health promotion and disease prevention, gerontology, evidence based practice and research, health systems management and informatics.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment in the health care industry is projected to increase 22% through 2016 with three million new jobs becoming available. The Silver Lake College Allied Health Leadership program will develop graduates who are well prepared for careers in medical and health services management and health care education, and they will earn six graduate credits that may be applied towards a Master of Science Degree in Management in Organizational Development (MS-MOD) at Silver Lake College.
