Silver Lake College Exhibit Spotlights Van Minsel’s Photography

Posted on March 28 2014

An exhibit showcasing photos by Dale Van Minsel is on display now through June 30 at Lake’s Edge Gallery, located in the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, on campus at Silver Lake College, 2406 S. Alverno Road.

The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, features seven photos shot by Van Minsel, a Howards Grove resident who works as the Digital and Communications Coordinator at Silver Lake College. The Franciscan Music Center is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Van Minsel has worked with the art and craft of photography since 1978. He’s a member of Sheboygan Visual Artists and a professional-level member of Wisconsin Visual Artists. He’s also a featured artist on Portal Wisconsin.

“My artistic work mostly involves creating unique images using the iPhone and photo apps,” Van Minsel said. “I’ve always enjoyed creating images depicting ‘altered landscapes’ and ‘possible dimensions’ using whatever medium was available at the time, but iPhoneography and photo apps really allow me to create unique images without cost or equipment limitations.”

Van Minsel’s work has been exhibited at Silver Lake College, UW-Sheboygan, Gallery 3, Frank Juarez Gallery, The Trout Museum of Art, Plymouth Arts Center, Neville Public Museum and Charles Allis Museum of Art. His work also has been part of exhibits in New York City, Brazil and Italy.
