Posted on March 31 2014

Conservation Education Inc. of Manitowoc County will hold an Environmental Education Workshop at Silver Lake College, 2406 S. Alverno Road, from June 30 to July 2.

The program, designed for educators and members of the public interested in the local natural environment, will provide an opportunity to explore the fundamentals of forest ecology, aquatic communities, and soil and land use. A special hands-on Project Wild Workshop is also included.

Professional staff members representing their resource specialties will provide first-hand experiences and knowledge. All members of the staff from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Soil Conservation Department and Silver Lake College donate their services.

The cost of the workshop is $150, which covers food, program costs and materials. Scholarships are available. Silver Lake College is offering one undergraduate or graduate credit for the program. Credit tuition and admission fees apply.

Originating out of the need for better understanding of our local natural environment, CEI was founded as a non-profit organization in 1954. The CEI workshop has trained nearly 2,000 teachers and others interested in increasing their understanding of the natural world.
