Silver Lake College to Host Student Recitals On April 6

Silver Lake College sophomores Kevin Sievert and Christopher Guy and junior Emily Laurin will take center stage on April 6 during a pair of recitals at the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, located on campus at 2406 S. Alverno Road.

Sievert’s performance will begin at 4 p.m. A combined recital featuring Guy and Laurin will start at 5:30 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

Sievert, a Manitowoc native, is a Vocal Performance and Pedagogy major. The 2012 graduate of Roncalli High School serves as a band leader at St. Peter the Fisherman parish in Two Rivers and is involved in community theater opportunities. Sievert will be singing works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Gabriel Faure, Stefano Donaudy and Kurt Weill. He will be accompanied by pianist Diana Shapiro, a Department of Music faculty member.

Guy, a tenor, and Laurin, a soprano, will perform works by Henry Purcell, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Stefano Donaudy, Reynaldo Hahn and Edouard Lalo. They’ll also be accompanied by Shapiro.

Guy is pursuing a degree in General-Kodály and Choral Music Education. He performs with Silver Lake College’s Chorale, Concert Choir, Handbell Ensemble, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble.

Laurin, a 2010 graduate of Roncalli High School, is studying General and Choral Music Education. She plays tenor saxophone in the Silver Lake Wind Ensemble, is a singer and saxophonist in the Silver Lake Jazz Band, and sings with the Silver Lake Chorale.
