Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is delighted to host three exciting public events on Saturday, December 7th at 2406 South Alverno Road in Manitowoc:

Veterans Welcome Event

Veterans and their families are invited to visit campus, and learn about programs and a new Silver Lake College Veteran’s Grant of up to $3500 each year. Registration begins at 2:30 pm in the Ariens Atrium of the new Franciscan Music Center, and will include breakout sessions on financial aid, admissions processes and academic program information, and campus tours concluding by 4:30 pm. Each veteran attending will receive two complimentary tickets to the Chili Cookoff at 5:00 pm, and to the Christmas at Silver Lake concert at 7:00 pm. Details are available at www.SL.edu/WelcomeVeterans.

Silver Lake Chili Cookoff

From 5:00-6:30 pm, the public is invited to the Silver Lake Chili Cookoff, with four mouthwatering recipes to taste and vote on. Chili fixings, cornbread and beverage are all included for the ticket price of $5 in advance, or $7 at the door, per person. Delicious desserts will be available for purchase, and the event will include a bake sale and 50/50 raffle.  All proceeds benefit the annual Silver Lake College Alternative Spring Break Student Service trip. Participants are a mixed group of Silver Lake College students, faculty and staff, and all will spend their spring break in Memphis, Tennessee working with an organization called SOS (Service Over Self) that coordinates with church and school communities to provide volunteers to work and serve, repairing homes in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Additional information is available at www.SL.edu/ChiliCookoff.
